The Cover Shoot
After the Official Launch party for Catwalkfever.com, I thought it would be a good idea to sit with the beautiful lady that has become known as the Cover Model for Catwalkfever.com. What is utterly amazing about this young woman is not only is she incredibly beautiful, but her inner spirit is just as gorgeous as her outer appearance? So who is she? What plans does she have for the future and how has her life changed since that beautiful autumn day when we took some test shots in downtown Dallas?
Get ready for an up close and personal interview with a stunning young lady. Ladies and Gentlemen, I reintroduce to you - Nancy, a true cover girl.
Steven: Tell me what was it like to be in an exclusive photo shoot with Catwalkfever.com.
Nancy: It was awesome. I mean Steven you are so easy to work with and you helped out a lot. You are very good at getting models into that zone and bringing out the sexiest poses and attitude out of people. I felt very comfortable with you and to be honest, I didn't want the photo shoot to end. I was like "please, just one more outfit."
Steven: When we first started shooting, it was on an early Saturday morning in the middle of downtown Dallas. What was going through your mind?
Nancy: I was thinking what pose should I strike, how should I look, what should I do with my hair, what type of attitude do I want to portray.
Steven: We had major distractions going on that day. Cars honking their horn, buses almost blowing us over, men whistling and wanting to partake in the pictures. How did you block out all of those distraction and continue to focus and look so good?
Nancy: Well, I take modeling very seriously and I always want to make the best use of our time. I understand that this is a business and our time is precious, so I had to keep a professional mind set for the photo session. There could have been a train going my next me, in my mind I was thinking "Be Vogue."
Steven: The chemistry between a model and photographer is very important, when did you feel the bond between you and I.
Nancy: When we starting taking pictures of the red and cream outfit that you used for the flyer and your Launch campaign. That was actually the second outfit into our photo shoot and as soon as I put that outfit on and you started talking to me (mimicking my voice) "Oh that's good" -- "Oh my gosh" -- "Nancy your killing me" -- I knew we were going to have some great shots. The words that you said to me, made me want to give that much more of myself into my poses. We were definitely on one accord and feeling each other.
Steven: In your opinion, what makes me easy to work with.
Nancy: You are very pleasant person and you seem to enjoy what you are doing. You are not rude or obnoxious saying things like "I'm the photographer, do what I say" or "hurry up, I'm on a schedule," but you were very patient with me. You would wait for the right moment for the right shot or we would walk until we found the perfect location for the feel that you wanted.
Steven: When you found out that I wanted to use you as the Official cover model for the launch party, how did you feel?
Nancy: At first, I didn't know and then Regis (President of Buena Vista Talent) told me and I was blown away. I have been to your website and there is a lot of gorgeous women on your site. So for you to choose me to be the Cover Model for your website, I was so flattered. I was like OK, now it is time to get really serious. As well as thinking that I have really got to find the bomb outfit for the Launch party (laughter). It was my first time being featured as a cover so I cannot say thank you enough for allowing me that honor. I'll never forget it.
Steven: What has happened or changed in your life since our photo shoot?
Nancy: Well, I was chosen to be model in The Hair Icon and Day Spa fashion show. Marquinn Middleton (owner of The Hair Icon) was so cool and allowed us to use his salon to style my hair and to change clothes on the day of the shoot. He then said that he loved my look and asked if I could be in his fashion show. I am also being approached by people how recognize me from your Launch party promotions and it has given me an extra boost to continue to work hard and strive to be the best model that I can be. For the first time, I am doing something that feels 100% right. It is that feeling that you get when you know that you really belong. This modeling world is where I feel totally happy and free and it is great because it doesn't ever feel like work. My life has changed in that I am even more passionate about the modeling industry and it also to my friends and family that I am on my way.
Steven: What does the future hold for Nancy?
Nancy: If God allows, more shows, more work and more exposure.
Steven: People often see the finished product and think that it is all so easy, what advice would you give young models who are just starting out.
Nancy: Many people believe that modeling is so easy. That all you have to do is walk and look pretty. But actually modeling is very hard. You have to be conscious about your hair, about your diet and about your skin. It is not a game, although it is lot of fun, it is a job. When you are modeling, you are at work and nothing else can enter your mind during that time. There is no time for distractions, because you are on a schedule and are involving other people's time. You have to get in line and follow the vision of the photographer, of the agent and of the stylist. So no matter how you feel or if you don't feel sexy, you have got to perform. Even when you are tired, you have to pretend that you are not. I would tell them that you have got to be ready to give a lot of yourself and put a lot of time into your career, it you want it to be successful.
Steven: What do you want people to remember about Nancy from this Launch campaign?
Nancy: That I am a vibrant women that is full of positive energy. The other models that I am modeling with for the Hair Icon fashion show has nicknamed me "energy." They call me energy and say that I have such a positive vibe, that I pass it on to them. I want people to remember me for this trait. Not as a pretty face, but as someone that possesses positive energy and spreads it to those that are around me. I love the feeling of being around other people and making them feel as happy as I am. There is way too much negativity in the world.
Steven: Do you still remember taking the picture that was used for the Launch flyer and promotions. Tell me what you remember about that picture.
Nancy: Well, we were in downtown Dallas on Main Street, right past Neiman Marcus and we were actually taking a lot of pictures by the red phone. We wanted a real urban feel and the outfit was going well with all of the surroundings. Then I remember that you saw this dark door behind the phone and you gave me that look like "you have got to go stand by that door." We really didn't take that many pictures by the door, but I remember you telling me to stand at the door as if no one can get in without my permission. The rest is history.
Steven: Well, I don't know of any men that would want to get past you to go inside that door. If they are anything like me, they would rather just stand at the door and look at you. Which if you remember, is what must have been on the minds of the men in downtown on that day, because they sure came running from everywhere to watch.
Steven: You have some very distinct and exotic features and are truly a beautiful young lady. Tell me about our background and how do you see beauty.
Nancy: Well, a lot of my friends call me the Latin Barbie. Some call me Pocahontas, even though I am not Indian. I am 100% Latin. I was born in El Salvador and since I spent a lot of my developmental years there, I have the love and heartbeat of the country inside of me. I am very proud of my country. I love the food, the culture, the music.
My family is very close and everyone loves to dance. It keeps all of us bonded together. As you know the music - Salsa and Meringue is very sexy and sensual and it is easy to pull that side out of me because it is has been with me since birth. It is in our style, our fashion or heritage. It is a part of our way of life. So yes, I have the long dark hair, naturally tanned skin and exotic eye's as they say in the modeling industry. This is who I am. I am just glad that the industry is now seeing and accepting my looks as something to be treasured. The industry is slowly finding out what me and my family have always known, that beauty is not a type, but it is how you see yourself. I am a comfortable being a beautiful woman, because that is how I was raised.
Yes, I am a Latin woman. But it is our differences and the combinations of the different types of beauty that makes this industry so appealing and attractive to me. I believe that beauty is diverse. And the makeup of our society is far more real, intriguing and beautiful to me, than anyone who is attempting to label a culture or a people as a style or a trend. Saying things like "this is what is beautiful this season", or the "Latin look is in." I am not a style. I am not a trend. I am a beautiful woman.
Steven: Lastly Nancy, is there anyone that you would like to say thank you to?
Nancy: I want to thank God, who is first in my life. Without him, I would be nothing. He is my father, my creator, my everything. He carried me this far and I know he will carry me even further.

I want to say thank you to my mother and father whom I love dearly. They taught me how to be proud of who I am. Even though we were not rich in money, we were very rich in our heritage and our culture. I am strong today because I had a strong upbringing. My mother is the type of woman that no matter what was going on, she carried the attitude that today is a great day and tomorrow will be even better. You see Steven, my parents have always supported me and my dreams of becoming a model. There were always these agencies or modeling conventions that would come to town to find models and they were always very expensive. Many times, these ventures turned out to be scams, but my parent never discouraged my dreams. They never game up on me and now they are very proud to see me fulfilling some of my dreams.

I want to thank you Steven. Not only have you taken some great pictures of me, but you have also encouraged and pushed me to go even further in this modeling world. It is hard to imagine all that has happened in such a short time period. I can never thank you enough for believing in me enough to have me partake in something as personal as your vision and to be the Cover model for Cawalkfever.com. There is some great blessings in store for you and your website. Thanks again, I can't wait until our next photo shoot.
And last but certainly not least, I want to thank Regis with Buena Vista Talent agency for introducing me to you and for having faith in me and my continued quest to be the best that I can be.
Steven: Nancy I want to personally thank you for taking the time for this interview. And I want everyone to keep checking here for the next exclusive photo spread of Nancy, our Latin Barbie.
